Sabinal is a city in Uvalde County, Texas, United States. The city is located along the Sabinal River in the Texas Hill Country.

Sabinal was founded in 1854 by Thomas B. Hammer, who operated a stage shop and was the first postmaster. The town was originally named Hammer’s Station but was renamed Sabinal in 1858. The name Sabinal is Spanish for “little cypress tree.”

Sabinal is known for its scenic beauty, its historic downtown, and its annual Wild Hog Festival. The festival is held in March and features live music, food, and a wild hog-calling contest.

Other points of interest in Sabinal include the Sabinal Historical Museum, the Sabinal Cemetery, and the Sabinal River. The museum features exhibits on the history of the town, and the cemetery is the final resting place of many of the town’s early settlers.
